2020 Mission Report

Bensalem Presbyterian Church continued its local & world mission-based initiatives.
Our church participated in the four Special Offerings the Presbyterian Church (USA) asks all congregations to support throughout the year. With giving envelopes specifying each Special Offering, bulletin announcements & inserts, the occasional “minute for mission” during worship and online ability to make donations on our church website, we had heartfelt monetary donations to support these missions:

April 2020 – One Great Hour of Sharing – $525 to provide relief to those
affected by natural disasters, food for the hungry, and support
the self-development of poor and oppressed communities.

May 2020 – Pentecost – $260 to help ministries with children at risk

October 2020 – Peace & Global Witness – $423 with 25% going to Rev.
Steinnagel’s The Welcome Church, an ecumenical “outdoor
church” meeting monthly in Logan Square for those who
experience chronic street homelessness.

December 2020 – Christmas Joy – $400 to provide financial assistance to
persons & families who have dedicated their lives to the church
and support racial ethnic leadership development and education
for students attending Presbyterian-related schools and colleges.

Additionally, monies collected for the Souper Bowl ($120) went to supplies needed when hosting for Family Promise weeks. A challenge/church match raised $880 sent to Presbyterian Disaster Relief to help Puerto Rico relief. In November we did another challenge/church match for the unprecedented hurricanes and wildfires our country suffered in 2020 raising $1885 for PDR! With additional church income, we were able to support some individuals in our community that faced eviction/loss of car due to layoffs/decreased income from the pandemic. Other Mission Giving recipients, including Camp Kirkwood, the Sunshine Foundation, Family Service, AHTN and others coordinated by the Women’s Guild, The Sons of Peace, Deacons and General Mission giving totaled $18,907 or 8.3% tithing from our church. Thank you all for continuing to do Our Lord’s work to support local and global needs.
