2020 Music Director’s Annual Report

Two thousand twenty was a very challenging year for churches and especially for small churches like Bensalem Presbyterian Church. Due to the state and board of health restrictions, we were unable to openly participate with singing and praying in church. However, Lenore and I continued to supply appropriate scripture related music for all services.

Back in March of 2020, Ronald Campbell, bass baritone, presented his renditions of several sacred spirituals for our last live Lenten, Wednesday night collective community service.

In October of 2020, we started a fun and joyous handbell group preparing for a Christmas Carol presentation. A decision was reached that it would be best for all involved to temporarily curtail this marvelous activity. This was done in lieu of the second rise of Covid-19 conditions and agreed upon by the church and sessions for the good of all who were involved in this activity. We hope and pray that in the near future, we shall be able to reinstate the handbell group to perform for special services!

Our Christmas Eve services were successful having to “zoom” for the children’s service. Then, for the later service, Justin and Lenore sang several traditional hymns and carols. We understand that there were over 470 views for this virtual, Facebook-live service! Many kudos and thanks to Rev. Ken and Rev. Susan for their hard work in continuing services live on Facebook during this past year. It has been a challenging and learning process. Lenore and I hope and pray we’ll be singing, praying and participating “IN” CHURCH LIVE soon!

We miss you all very much and especially our choir members. In the meantime, we shall continue services, virtually until we can meet again.

May God Bless you.
Thank you.
Dimitri and Lenore
